Holden's smile widened continuously as she continued the story. By the time she had reached the part about the kid liking the clash, he was practically grinning ear to ear. "They sound so fucking cute! Especially the kid your teaching about music. I don't know why but I love little kids that know about cool stuff like that. Or when people give their little boys mohawks or dress them in little converse. If I ever end up with kids I'm gonna be the weirdest dad because I'll insist on dressing my kids in little ramones shirts and putting them in converse and making them listen to kick ass music."

Peyton nodded, almost laughing, "I know, god forbid I ever get knocked up, but if I do I'm putting the thing in converse and vans and all that stuff. I mean I see them at Journeys all the time and they're so cute" she said, shrugging her shoulders slightly when she said the word cute. She let them go quickly, it was just a little habbit of hers when she thought something was cute, people told her it was adorable but it annoyed the fuck out of her.

"Kind of you to refer to a child as a thing." Holden said. He wasn't really offended by any means, and was plainly just teasing her by saying this. The way he smiled as he spoke made that fact obvious. He would have agreed with these 'people' that said the little shrug she did was cute, though he didn't say anything about it. He might jokingly tell a stranger something about them was attractive. Like, going up to a girl and telling her how beautiful she was was no problem to him. On the other hand, if he was starting to get to know someone and genuinely found a habit or mannerism of theirs cute, he just wouldn't talk about it. That was how he worked.

She gave a tiny laugh, she just never really wanted a child. "So kind," she said back with a tiny smile. She leaned back in the swing, probably not the greatest of ideas since she almost fell, but she caught herself and gave a laugh. "So, I'm guessing you're into the whole idea of kids?" she asked, purely to keep the conversation going. She didn't want an awkward silence or she'd crack up, they always made her laugh. She was awful when someone accounced someone had died, she usually had to leave the room to laugh, just because of the awkward silence that followed.

"I like kids. I dunno why really... I mean I know most of my friends who are guys never really liked kids. But I always did. They're just so much cooler than adults. Probably because they're so innocent and haven't been damaged by the world yet." He gave a slight shrug. Holden had always loved kids. He couldn't help it. He loved the way they believed in even the impossible. He once asked a kid what he wanted to be when he grew up, and the kid informed him that he wanted to be a train. To the child, the fact that a train was an object, not a thing a human can become, was not an issue. It was what he wanted to be and that was all that mattered. Holden wished he could still see the world that way a lot.

They're so innocent and haven't been damaged by the world yet, she gave a tiny giggle, and put her hand to her heart, trying to seem sincere, "That's deep, man" she said with a small laugh, she was just being sarcastic as usual. She knew sarcasm better than english, kind of depressing, actually. She gave another tiny giggle and smiled at Holden.

Holden gave a slight laugh as well, not offended in the least that she had made fun of his moment of deepness. He didn't like so much when conversations got serious, and he was actually thankful that she had done what she did. "Oh yeah, I am SO damn deep aren't I?" He questioned, grinning widely. "I'm basically the deepest guy on the earth. Deep as deep can get. You know, if you found the deepest person in the universe? I would be deeper." He could have cared less that this made no sense.

Peyton gave a small laugh, the smile still planted on her face, "Yeah, I'm about as deep as a shower" she said, that tiny shrug comming back. She quickly stopped, hating that annoying little habbit of hers. She looked down at Joey, "I think he's deeper than both of us put together" she joked, petting his fur.

Deciding to try for another moment of deepness, Holden looked down at the dog as well. "True. Well one could argue that animals are way deeper than people. I mean, they're like children in their innocence. That sorta shit." He giggled a little bit at this second 'deep' comment. "Sorry, I had to do it. I can't lose my reputation for deepness after all! It was completely necessary." Reaching down, he patted Joey's head several times, pausing to wool the big dog's ears. The animal seemed ecstatic at this attention, and Holden had a large smile on his face.

Peyton gave a laugh, looking up at him, makingeye contact for a brief second then quickly diverting her eyes back down to Joey. She gave him a rub on the head, then a tiny smile. She looked back up at Holden, pushing her bangs out of her green eyes. "Totaly necessary" she added with a small laugh. A sharp breeze flew over the area, making her shiver slightly. She shook her head and gave another tiny laugh.

Holden stayed silent for a moment. Joey was plainly tired. The dog was now lying down on the grass, panting like mad, the complete opposite of how he had been behaving not long before. Holden figured that he should take the dog back to the house. On the other hand, he didn't feel like parting company with Peyton just yet. After another moment of silence, he spoke up. "Joey's exhausted, I should probably get him back to the house." He said, before continuing. "You're welcome to come with if you like, don't have anything better to do. I mean, all there is to do there is like, watch TV and shit but I wouldn't mind the company."

Peyton looked down at the dog, totally opposite from when he first knocked her on her ass. She looked up at Holden, a tiny smile on her lips. "Sure, that'd be nice" she said. She looked in the direction of the parking lot, or atleast where she thought she remembered it being. "I can give you a ride if you want," she offered.

"That'd be cool." He agreed, tugging gently on the leash so that Joey got back to his feet. The dog seemed like he would have been content to stay lying on the cool grass, but when Holden said "We're gonna head home boy," he seemed to gain back some of his old energy, immediately heading in the direction of the exit to the park, near the parking lot. He pulled Holden, though he didn't drag him with as much energy as before. "I think this dog needs to learn to walk at heel." He mentioned dryly, as he tried to pull on the leash and bring the animal closer to him.

She gave a small laugh, watching the dog pull and Holden try to keep up with him. She took out her keys and twirled them around her finger. They reached her car, the black 1963 Chevy comet, the hood down, showing off the red pleather. It was a piece of shit, but she loved it. The fact that the heat, stereo, and air conditioning worked was all that mattered to her. She Placed her hand on the hood, "This is my baby," she said with a small laugh.
