"Yeah, that's it exactly. They named him after Joey and they're just horrible, lying people" Holden gave a tiny giggle and listened. "Well we must not be in the right palce then, I don't hear any little kids screaming!" Joey, obviously bored of just stnading around, started off, pulling Holden, but not at such an alarming pace as last time. "Well I have no better idea's so I guess following him works!" Holden piped up, knowing that he wouldn't be able to stop the dog even if he tried, so he might as well save some face by at least pretending he was agreeing to go along.

Peyton laughed watching the dog pull Holden. She ran up so she was next to him, slowing her pace to his. "He can probably smell them so he's leading us to the swings. Such a smart animal" sh esaid with a tiny laugh. She looked at the boy again. "So I'm guessing you're a Ramones fan?" she asked casually. Capitan Oblivious should've been her real name, but it was a good way to fill in the gaps of the conversation.

Oh yeah cuz he's such a smart dog. I bet he knows exactly what we're saying and he decided to bring us right to the swings." He reached down and patted the dog on the head, rubbing one of his ears slightly, then looked back at Peyton. "I love the Ramones. I mean, they aren't my favorite band but they're definately way up there on my list. Like probably second or third. I dunno, I can never really organize my bands into any sort of order of favorites. I'm bad at picking things. I'm assuming you like the Ramones too?"

"Eh," she shrugged, "maybe just a little. I mean I only listen to them whenever I run which is like every day so" she laughed, a tiny smile on her face. "What other stuff do you listen to?" she asked him, just for the sake of random conversation.

Holden laughed slightly at her joke. "Ummmm The Beatles. Like, Buddy Holly. Lot of nineties stuff like Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day... Blind Melon. A lot of kinda random crap. Like, Mindless Self Indulgence and this really odd Irish band called the Sultans of Ping FC. They have a song about like, losing their sweater and one about being itchy." He gave a slight shrug. "I have sort of eclectic tastes. People tell me so at least. What about you? Other than the Ramones and shit? OOH sorry to interrupt before you even answered but I think I hear little kids!" He was right, there was the sound of kids laughing and yelling nearby.

Peyton nodded, "Yeah, I guess I'm kind of eclectic too. I mean put my iPod on shuffle and the first song will be Sex Pistols, the next one HelloGoodbye, and the next one Marilyn Manson. I mean I guess I don't really discriminate... Unless it's something really preppy or rap or country." she said with a nod. She laughed at the boy's sudden burst. "See!? The dog know's what he's doing!"

"I like country if you count Johnny Cash or listen to crazies that think Tom Petty is country when he is PLAINLY rock. And I listen to rap if you count Gym Class Heroes and Dee Dee King. But I really don't think Dee Dee Ramone's pathetic rap career does count." Holden reached down and petted the dog again, making congratulatory noises. "Good Joey! You're smarter than I gave you credit for!" The dog seemed ecstatic at being complimented and set off at a run, dragging him around the corner. Next thing her knew, he was being hit on the head with a plastic shovel because his dog had yanked him into the sandbox and he had knocked over a small child's sand castle. The child was obviously not pleased with the situation, and neither was Holden. Joey of course, was still just as excited as before, and seemed to think the punishment his owner was receiving was just another fun game.

Peyton nodded. "I don't really think of Johnny Cash as country, I mean I guess he is and Ring of Fire is my favortie song ever so in a way I do. And Gym Class Heroes and Girl Talk are the only things along the lines of rap that I listen to... And Lady Sov from time to time but she's just a nerdy little white British chick so you have to love her" she said with a small laugh. She walked the dog take off, dragging Holden with him, running behind them. "I guess you we're right when you said he was part rocket ship" she said between giggles kneeling down next to Holden. She offered a hand to help the boy up.

Holden accepted the hand and got quickly to his feet, going very fast in order to avoid being hit even more with the little kid's shovel. The kid forgot about him anyway, and started to play with Joey, who seemed overjoyed with having a new friend. "Thanks." He said, grateful she had saved him from the wrath of the little boy. "Most definitely part rocket ship." He agreed, shaking his head slightly. "Oh and I was about to say when Joey decided to take off like that, that I like Lady Sovereign too. I mean, you can't not like her. Her lyrics are just so ridiculous and funny. Besides, anyone that can use the word 'breasteses' and actually rhyme it with something in one of their song's is basically a hero of mine."

Peyton laughed, "And compare missing Shepheards Pie to a High maintenence Chick missing her diamonds, don't forget that part." she laughed again, looking over to Joey then around for the swings. They were empty, which made her happy. She looked at Holden then motiones towards the swings, "Shall we, sir?"

Holden tied Joey's leash to a bush near the sandbox, since the dog didn't seem to want to leave his new little friend anytime soon. He laughed slightly when Peyton mentioned that particular line of the song. "That too of course." He glanced over at the swings and noticed too that they were empty. Grinning, he nodded. "But of course my good lady." He said, going along with the theme she had started by calling him sir. With that, he headed in the direction of the sings and sat on one of them. After a few seconds of just sort of sitting, he started swinging, laughing slightly once again. Sometimes he got a kick out of the most childish things. Now was one of those times. He liked watching cartoons, he still owned a Tamagotchi, and he loved swinging.

Peyton skipped over to the swings, yes skipped. She was truley a five year old at heart. A five year old and a twenty one year old, occasionally the seventeen-year-old that she truley was. She ruffled her blonde hair before sitting down on the swing and using her legs to push herself off the ground. She looked over at Holden and laughed slightly.

Holden looked a little bit on the ridiculous side. While he wasn't that tallest guy on earth, he was certainly a bit too tall for a child's swing, and his feet tended to drag on the ground, so he had to tuck them under him in order to not slow himself down. It both felt and looked sort of awkward, and he couldn't help laughing again because of it. "Hey! I never asked, do you go to school around here? And like, how old are you?" Normally this would have been one of the first things he would have found out, but it had completely slipped his mind to ask her today. It would do well to make some friends in the area, and he hoped she went to Shallow High. Having moved here during the summer, he'd had a difficult time making friends, something that normally came easy to him.

Peyton laughed, she was relativley taller than most other girls around here, but shorter than most boys, except for a few which made her happy. "Oh, I go to Shallow High... And I'm seventeen." she called to him. "How about you?" she asked; she looked down at her converse, hoping they wouldn't come untied and fly off hitting some little kid. She cynical part of her sort of wished it would happen though.

"Yay!" Holden yelled, before calming the sudden burst of excitement had escaped and then laughing. "Sorry. I just was hoping that's where you went. I'm starting there. And I'm seventeen too. Are you gonna be a senior?" He knew just because she was seventeen, she wasn't necessarily in the same grade as him. Still, he could be hopeful. It would be fun to start of the year with a buddy anyway. That would certainly make things easier at the very least.
