Krystal sighed as she walked up to the beach. Her hair was pulled in a messy ponytail, and of course, to prevent perverts from staring at her, at the moment she had on a pair of jeans and a black crop top with a bikini under. She layed a towel and a black and white cooler in the sand and kicked her sandals off. She then pulled her crop top off, and then unbuttoned and unzipped her jeans, sliding them down her hour glass figured body. She was wearing a black and red skull bikini, her favorite, of course.
Krystal pulled the hair thing out her hair and put it on her right wrist. She ran her fingers through her blonde and black highlighted hair, getting rid of a few unwanted knots. Her crystal blue eyes sparkled as she glanced into the water, a smile appearing across her face. She layed down on the towel on her back, closing her eyes and sighing. She didn't use suntan lotion though, it never helped, she just tanned, never burned. She yawned, propping her legs up so her knees were in the air.
Krystal opened her eyes for a second, only to be blinded by the sun. She flinched and glanced towards the water, seeing a dolphin. "If only I could swim with you...." she said looking at it. She then layed her head back down and closed her eyes once more. She ran her hand to the cooler and reached inside, a chill going up her spine as she dunked her hand in the ice. She finally pulled out a bottled water and opened it, taking a sip, putting the top back on, and then setting it in the sand. Off to the start of her 'almost' perfect day.

Not far away, a boy sat on the sand, also enjoying the last of the summer sun. The days were already beginning to get shorter, and Holden knew that cold was not far away, so he was soaking up some rays while he still had the chance. Unlike Krystal, Holden was fully clothed. Bathing suits weren't really his thing, unless he was planning on swimming, and while the air was still warm enough for them, the water really wasn't. He wore his favorite sweatshirt, a lightweight gray one, and an old pair of jeans. He had removed his shoes, liking the warm sand between his toes, and not liking the idea of getting that sand into his shoes. That was never very fun to get out.
Hearing a voice speak, he glanced over in the direction he had heard it from. A girl seemed to be speaking to the ocean. He shuddered slightly, wondering if she heard voices. After a moment, he shook off that idea. "Whats the matter with you Holden? People talk to themselves plenty. It doesn't mean they hear voices." He informed himself, before realizing he had just done exactly what he had been creeped out by. Talked to himself. He sighed slightly and brushed the chunk of curly hair that he had left on his head out of his line of vision. Now he felt bad for being scared of the girl. Not that she knew he had been scared but... he still felt bad. He decided he could make it up to her by starting up a conversation (once again forgetting that she hadn't known any of his thoughts int he first place).
"Hey!" He greeted. Shyness had never been an issue for him. Holden found it easy to strike up conversations with complete strangers. Besides, this complete stranger happened to be a pretty girl. Holden did have a weakness for pretty girls. He would never hesitate to strike up a conversation with one.

Krystal rose a brow, hearing a voice. She sat up and glanced over at him. "Hey!" she replied smiling. She put her arms behind her, propping herself up before moving a strand of hair from in her face. She closed her eyes again, letting a small breeze blow through her har. A small smiled appeared on her face before she opened her eyes again and listened to the waves crash against some rocks.
Krystal yawned and glanced down at her messanger bag. She grabbed it and pulled out a phone, flipping through and checking her messages, none. I guess that going to a new school had its disadvantages, escpecially for the unsocial people like Krystal. She really didn't mind talking to people, she just did't like introducing herself to complete strangers unless they did first. I mean, that's weird.... right? What kid randomly walks up to people they don't know and says 'HI I'M KRYSTAL!'. I know she wouldn't, at all.
She slid her phone back inside her bag and then glanced at the sand. Nothing special of course, just, an interesting texture. She ran her hands from off the towel into the sand before turning over on her stomach and grabbing some sand, slowly letting it go. She watched it closely as the wind dragged it one way before it all was gone. Reminded her of the song Enter Sandman by Metallica, though it had absolutely nothing to so with sand on the beach, but monsters. Oh well!

Holden got to his feet and walked closer to her before plopping back down on the sand. He meant to start a conversation and it would be easier to do so sitting nearby. Holden had always been one to enjoy striking up random conversations, and right now was no different. Now that he had started one, he would probably keep talking until she made him go away. He tended to pester people without really meaning to.
"I'm Holden!" He introduced himself. "What's your name?" As he spoke, he realized that he sounded vaguely like a five year old introducing himself to some other little kid he just met on the playground. He was about as chipper and happy as your average five your old, and his greetings were just as smooth.

Krystal smiled before letting out a giggle. "I'm Krystal..." she said softly smiling. "Nice to meet you Holden! You're the only person here I know... besides my cousin that is..." she said smiling. Of course she didn't mind talking, and boy could she talk. She smiled before glacing at the water, then back at him. Her blue eyes sparkled as she gazed towards him, them back out into the water before down into the sand once again.
Krystal let out a sigh, but not a, God my life is miserable sigh, a happy sigh. She was away from her dad, and stress... along with her ex. It was a good thing in it's own way. She didn't wanna end up pregnant for the third time by her ex Jay, that lives in New York. Her friend Daniel is really the only one she misses at the moment. She sighed and wondered if he would come to this school, then snapped back into reality and glanced back over to Holden.

"Well neat! Did you just move here or something? I mean, since you don't know people yet." He questioned politely. He himself had only moved here a few months previously, so he knew what being new was like. He'd yet to meet many people either. In fact, currently the only people he knew were the family of his new legal guardian, and his only friend was the family dog, Joey. Obviously he wasn't exactly Mr. Popular. Well, yet at least. He had no idea how many friends he would end up meeting.
Like her, he was pretty happy now, while he hadn't exactly had the happiest life. Finally being guaranteed a home, at least until he was ready to move out on his own, kind of did that for him. He was glad that he didn't need to worry about when he would get shipped off next. That would never need to be a worry for him again.

"Yup" Krystal replied simply smiling. "I have only been here for about two week..." she said before shrugging. "I previously lived in California!" she added giving a small giggle. "So, therefore, I'm not use to the 'lifestyle', or accents for that matter, let alone the spelling differences.." she said still smiling. Which, was all true. For one, the accents some of the people have, she wasn't really use to it. Then, of course, the spelling there, for example; it isn't spelled 'color' here, but 'colour'. Might take a while to get use to.
Another thing, was Krystal had to live without a Hot Topic store anywhere near. Which really sucks, since that's her favorite store! She sat for a minute, her mind was focused on one thing. MUSIC! What if they didn't have some music from America?! "NO!" she randomly blurted out, then wuickly threw a hand over her mouth before laughing. "I'm so sorry, just having a thought..." she said still giggling every now and then.

"Ooh, your from California?" Holden said with a grin. "I lived there for like a month when I was ten, and then again for two months when I was thirteen. Once in LA and once in Oakland. I personally preferred Oakland... but that might have been because I got to stay there longer so I got more used to it." He gave a shrug. Canada had taken some getting used to for him as well, but he was good at adapting to places, especially considering he had spent time in 20 different states. That generally got people used to change and getting used to things.
At her outburst, Holden gave a slight laugh. "That's okay. I mean, everyone has the occasional outburst." Still grinning, he continued. "Mind my asking what this particular outburst was about?" He absently played with the sand beneath him, letting it slip through his fingers. Understandable, because sand can be awfully fun to play with.

"Oh. Really? Cool. I lived in Laguna beach. Well, right off of it at least.." she said sheepishly with a smile. "It was a gorgeous place, grew up there. This is truthfully the first time I have ever moved. It's alittle freaky. Plus, me and my cousin don't really hang out that much..." she added shrugging. Ah yes, the lovely Laguna Beach. Oh how she missed it, terribly. I guess Cananda had it's similarities, although, she was the girl that listened to all the weird music, good thing she has her i-pod!
Of course, she left all of her friends. Mainly Daniel. Oh God, the best thing that has ever happened to her. Besides the fact that she lost her virginity to him, got pregnant by him, and well, he's the one that got her to smoke.

"Ah Laguna Beach? I never went there." Holden gave a slight shrug. "So I can't give my own opinion of it really. My favorite places I lived where probably Oakland and New York City but... I dunno. I actually really like it here." He really was starting to like it there. It was so unlike what he was used to in the US. Still, it was different in a good way. He liked not really having to deal with all the difficulties in the US. Like not being at war was certainly a nice thing. A definite bright side, if they ever instituted the draft, he would have escaped it.
He actually found himself sort of glad that he had never stayed in one place long enough before to make close friends. It must have sucked for Krystal, leaving the people she had grown up with. Not a problem he had ever really had to deal with.

"New York City..." Krystal said sighing happily. She smiled remembering when her and her ex went there, good times. "My ex took me to New York City one year. It was only for a week. It was nice. Alot of people..." she said letting out a giggle. She then sighed before picking up some sand and letting it slowly fall from her hands. "I enjoyed it..." she added still smiling before glancing at Holden. Her eyes went soft as she sighed.
Why did she leave Jay? Oh, yeah. He cheated on her, and slapped her once before... and got her pregnant. Well, she was better off without him.... right? She bit her bottom lip, thinking. She then dropped the sand and sighed once again, regreting some things she had done in the past, the worst, is that she would be confronted about all of it one day.
Yes, Krystal was a Christian. She believed in heaven, hell, the works, ad she has been confronted and asked questions about her believe many times. One that got to her was when her enemy , Jessica {which is athiest}, asked her if she was a Christian, then why did she do drugs and have premarital sex? Well, pretty much sin, constantly. It got to Krystal, and she couldn't answer the question. She still can't, no matter how many times she has thought it over.

"Yeah I'll bet it was fun for you. I mean it could occasionally get boring because I lived there, but I bet it was pretty damn amazing only going there that one time. It wouldn't have lost it's charm." Holden shrugged slightly. New York had been his home for most of his life. He had lived there with his mother until the age of five, when he was taken away, and had spend up till seven living there still with various relatives. Often after times in other states, he would end up back there again as well. He did miss it sometimes, but for the time being her was perfectly happy right where he was.
Holden studied her for a moment, frowning slightly. He could tell from the way she was sitting and the expression on her face that she wasn't particularly happy, and he wondered if it would be considered impolite to ask what was wrong. After a moment, he decided that it couldn't hurt to ask, so he piped up. "If you don't mind my prodding... wanna tell me what's the matter?" He asked finally.

Krystal sighed softly. "Yeah, it was awesome.." she said smiling. She glanced up at him at his question. "Oh, I'm just thinking about some things from the past. Mainly about my ex, and a question a girl from my old school asked me one time." she bit her lip and hesistated before continuing. "It really got to me...." she said softly before looking at the sand and then up at the sky.
She looked at the sand, so marvelous. It was amazing to know that someone knew all the numbers of the grains of sand. She smiled softly and began to think of the 'Footsteps' poem. It was her favorite. It didn't really rhyme, but, she still loved it. She sighed softly. Feeling alittle better now that she began to think.

"I see..." He said with a slight nod. So she was still kind of hung up on an ex? That was probably it. Holden had had quite a few casual girlfriends, but they had never gotten far due to all the moving, so he didn't really know what it was like to miss a relationship very much. "Well the way I see it, it always kinda helps to just not dwell on the past. I avoid thinking about it usually." He really didn't spend a lot of time thinking about his past. It usually only came to mind when he was visiting his mother, and then the past tended to come crashing down on him. It wasn't very fun to have a mother so damaged that half the time she didn't remember you and the other half she thought you were coming to rescue her from the prison camp that she thought her assisted living facility was.

Krystal nodded, agreeing to what he said. "Yeah, I'm just glad I'm away from my dad..." she said softly. "And my brother..." she added glancing at him. Her abusive dad. Of course we can't forget her brother that almost let Krystal kill herself, until Daniel saved her. She sighed softly, shaking thoughts out of her head, trying to forget the past, which, really didn't work so well with her. "Forgive and Forget..." she mumbled to herself sighing.
