Name: Holden Caulfield
Age/Grade: 17/Senior
Character PB: Adam T. Siska
Neighborhood/Dorm: LaTerre Estates
Extra Curricular Activities: He enjoys quite a lot of things, from music to basketball. His passion is photography, but he really isn't a picky person when it comes to his hobbies.
Personality: Holden is a generally happy person. He's pleasant and talkative, not even shy. It takes a lot to anger him, though his feelings can be hurt pretty easily, and once he has a grudge against a person, he can hold it forever. He makes friends easily, and he trusts easily, but he always fears becoming TOO close to or trusting toward people.
One way to describe him would be to call him insane. He loves to do things that other people would find nonsensical, like sitting on a chair with two of the chairs legs on a pair of skateboards and attempting to ride this contraption down a hill. Pain is no real fear of his, he just loves doing things most people wouldn't think to do. He is also a flirt, but mostly in a joking manner. He will flirt with anything that walks and is mildly intelligent.
Despite his trusting nature and his tendency to flirt, he is surprisingly difficult to form a real romantic relationship with. Due to the constant moving around while growing up, he has a sort of subconscious fear of deep attachment. While he is as interested in love as anybody, he also fears it in a way. He is constantly afraid that if he leaves himself too open to love, he will inevitably have to leave the person. To him, being open to love is also being open to pain.
History: The first question one might ask about Holden is: Where on gods green earth did he get that name? The answer requires a bit of explaining about his mother. Holden's mother, you see, was not exactly the most healthy person mentally. She did, in fact, have several delusions. On top of naming her only son after one of the more famous characters in literature, she also entertained thoughts that she was a spy for the British government. Holden ended up being shipped off to live with his aunt at the age of five, after his mother set fire to the house in an effort to 'get the Russian spies off of her trail'. Obviously she was deemed unfit to raise a child. Holden never knew his father, and obviously couldn't live by himself being just a young tot.
The innocent young child was convinced that when he moved in with his aunt, he was there to stay. Unfortunately that was not to be. She quickly tired of having another mouth to feed, and constantly grew impatient with him. Finally one day, she took him to 'visit' an uncle of his, and dropped him off there. Holden waited for her to return, but she never did. It wouldn't be long before his uncle would repeat his aunt's actions.
Holden was passed between several of his relatives for the next twelve years. Infinitely trusting, he assumed every time that this would be his permanent home. Every time of course, he was simply shipped off once again. He made many friends, losing every one thanks to his family's tendency to drop him after only a few months. This pattern continued, with no sign of slowing or stopping, until finally an old friend of his mothers heard of his plight. This kind woman immediately stepped forward and offered to take the now teenage boy off his relatives hands. They were only too happy to comply and he was quickly moved to his new guardian's home in Sunnyside Creek.
Old enough now to be somewhat more distrusting than he was in childhood, he assumed that she would be like all the rest, and tried not too get too attached. He wasn't surprised when Mary, this kind lady, told him she wanted to talk to him, about a month after he had moved in. He assumed she was going to "gently break it to him" that he could no longer stay. You might guess that he was incredibly shocked when she instead informed him that she wanted to legally adopt him, but that she wanted to speak with him about it first. He accepted of course, and finally found the permanent home he had been missing. It may have taken him seventeen years to do it, but he had finally found a family.
