It had been another quiet day. The only things she’d been doing lately were hanging out with Will, playing her violin, singing, running. Anything to keep moving and keep busy. But, she wasn’t satisfied. Her cravings for that rush she got from doing something reckless were returning, but she promised herself she wouldn’t do anything to put herself in danger, not after Michael died.
But, when had she ever kept her promises, anyway? Her stride was slow as she walked through the park, her hair, a shade ranging from bubblegum to dark pink, was pulled back in a ponytail, out of her face and her emerald eyes. She sighed, walking up to the forest, and standing on the edge. Why was she here? She couldn’t remember. Her feet just sort of well, brought her there.
She sighed, rubbing her hands over her arms. It got cold here at night, and it had been a while since the sun had set over the horizon. Being the smart person she was, she was still only in her jogging shorts and a black t-shirt. She had been running earlier, clearing her head. She had the strongest urge to get high earlier, but she’d rather be sharp, rather than fuzzy. Faith sighed, frowing into the darkness. She should probably leave. No wondering what hobos would be hiding in here.

Faith wasn't the only one sitting out in the dark. Not far away from her, Sid sat beneath a tree, enjoying the silence that night brought and simply holding his acoustic guitar. He had a portable amp, and would normally have just brought his electric, but his acoustic seemed so much more fitting for playing in the outdoors. Sid wasn't that big of a fan of nature, but like any person, he enjoyed a cool breeze and a bit of solitude. Unlike Faith, he was dressed for the occasion. He had on a pair of tight fitted black jeans, on top of his favorite low top converse. A plain black and white striped t shirt, covered with his beat up old leather jacket completed his outfit, which worked well to keep away the chilly air.
His guitar was his favorite way of getting rid of stress, and he was currently fiddling lightly with chords and notes. What came out was a simplified acoustic version of Bowie's Life on Mars. While Sid did have the ability to sing, he hated the sound of his voice, so the guitar was left plain, without vocals to go along with it. He'd not noticed anyone else around, and thought himself to be completely alone as he played. If he knew Faith was there, he probably wouldn't be. He didn't like to play in front of people.

She'd been so lost in thought she hadn't even realized that there was anyone else around. The soft strumming of a guitar brought her back to the present, and she blinked, before turning her head, and looking around, trying to find the source. A hobo, no doubt. But, she really hoped it wasn't a hobo, because that would be kind of uncomfortable. Because, hobo's tried to molest people. No. Wait. That was pedophiles. But, maybe hobo's did it, too.
Faith's eyes finally rested on a boy, sitting against a tree, and her eyes narrowed. He definately didn't look like a hobo. But maybe they were just better dressed these days. She started, slowly, curiously, over to where he was sitting, and she called out softly, not really sure she wanted to ask whether or not he was a hobo in case of offending him, "Hey, there."

Faith was lucky she didn't get her face bashed in with his guitar as he let out a surprised yell, jumped up, and swung it within a few inches of her head. When he realized it was a person that had spoken, he dropped the guitar, put his hand to his chest and heaved a few breaths obviously trying to get over his momentary panic. "Holy...crap...dont...scare me like...that!" He managed between slightly wheezy breaths. He tended to scare kind of easy and her unexpected speaking had made him think that he was either about to be mugged, or attacked by a rabid mountain lion. Once he manged to quiet his breathing, he picked up his guitar and examined it in the low light. Once satisfied it was safe, he sort of glared at her.
"Jesus H Christ you should know better than to sneak up on a person in the pitch black when they quite obviously didn't see you." He took several deep, calming breaths and closed his eyes, after a moment he calmed enough to realize she probably hadn't meant to scare him or anything. "Okay... I'm okay... and sorry, I just... freak easily."

Faith was pissed. This prick had just tried to knock her head off with his freaking guitar. Unintentionally, but she was a bit too angry at him to pick up on that. Her arms crossed, she backed away from him while he huffed and puffed, eyebrows raised, eyes narrowed into a little glare, and she said defiantly, “I didn’t do it on purpose.” She figured she didn’t really look like a mugger… more like a pink-haired, too cold teenager. But, he hadn’t exactly seen her before she had spoken, so she’d throw him a bone, there. She watched the care he took with the guitar he had just dropped, and sighed. It was a bit different, but she was like that with her violin. She loved playing it, and one day, she hoped to be good enough to bring out to some scouts or something. She would love to pursue a career in music.
Just when she was starting to see things his way, she got angry again at his words, “Well, most people I sneak up on don’t exactly have panic attacks and try to whack my head off with their guitar.” She snapped back, crossing her arms, “And I wasn’t sneaking anyway. That’s a very derogatory word, anyway.” She stuck her nose up in the air, being too bratty for her own good. She eyed him for a second, then shrugged, saying, “It’s fine. Sorry for surprising you.” She said, avoiding saying the word ‘sneaking’.

Sid sort of flinched. This girl had reacted just as angrily as he had, not something he was exactly used to. His temper scared most people away, but she had just yelled right back! Either she was just in a bad mood, or she had just as bad a temper as he did. He didn't know her well enough to tell, but she might even have a worse temper. Not to mention she had, for all intents and purposes, called him a spazz, by saying that 'normal people' didn't react like he had. "...you didn't do it on purpose I guess..." He mumbled, carefully setting his guitar down to lean against the tree.
Now he felt sort of bad. She certainly hadn't meant to scare him, and either way, he had been extremely close to giving her a possible massive head wound. That would not have been particularly fun for either of them. "And uh... I'm sorry too... you know, for like... almost killing you... and stuff..." He said, int he sort of way of a person plainly not used to apologizing. "I mean, I guess I thought you were a cougar or something..." Now that he said this out loud, it seemed incredibly stupid. Cougars didn't say 'hey there'. Being big cats, they didn't say much of anything, apart from their scream-like roars. But either way, it was what he'd thought.

Faith wasn’t normally what would be classified as angry, but she just had a lot on her mind, all the time. Not to mention she was a bit of a bitch. But then again, she was a teenager. What teenager wasn’t remotely bitchy or a bit of a jackass. She got pissed by people that were petty, and blew things out of proportion, and it wasn’t really fair, but she got mad at people that got mad at her, even if it was her fault. She was kind of messed up in a way, and she wasn’t really up to trying to change that at the moment, “You’re right. I didn’t do it on purpose.”
She nodded, crossing her arms. Massive head wounds weren’t exactly high on her list of priorities, and she probably would have been really mad if he hadn’t actually killed her, “It’s problem.” WHAT? WHAT WAS THAT? She had this problem, with meeting new people sometimes, that she would slur her words together. This time, it was ‘it’s okay’, and ‘no problem’. She was good. His next words startled a bit of a laugh out of her, “Yeah, not a cougar, obviously.” She couldn’t blame him, though. Had it been her, she probably would have freaked out a little, too. But with her, it would have been a rabid hobo or something.

"It's problem?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow slightly. He figured she had meant to say something else, but now he was curious what that something else was. "And yeah, I notice now that you aren't a cougar... but still you could have been some like, evil mugging person bent on stealing my guitar." He pointed out. Sure, if she had been she probably wouldn't have said anything. She would have just jumped him and grabbed the guitar. The same goes for a cougar, it would probably just jump him and slice his throat open with it's teeth. But he had to make himself look stupid somehow, so he insisted that he was rightfully scared.
"And I have to say, if a mugger tried to steal my guitar, I probably WOULD bash them in the head. I wouldn't be Be to help it." He gave a slight shrug and actually chanced a sheepish grin.

Faith flushed, and said, “It was a mix up… Uhm, well. Yeah. I meant to say either ‘It’s no problem’ or ‘It’s okay’.” She rubbed the back of her neck, smiling in a bit of an embarrassed way, “Well, I was convinced that an evil hobo was going to come attack me, so whatever.” She shrugged, and said, “Yeah, yeah. I don’t play guitar anyways, so no problems there…” She nodded, and then laughed again, saying, “But, then you would have broken it. And then, that would make you sad.” She pointed out.
Suddenly, she realized that she hadn’t said her name, and she told the boy, “I’m Faith, by the way. Faith Sandborn.” She stuck out a hand, to shake his, grinning.

"Sid Sylvain, nice to meet you, even if it wasn't under the best circumstances." He said, still grinning slightly, before returning to the previous subject. "Yeah, I tend to not think of the consequences before I act... I would have hit you, broken it, then realized what I'd done and been really pissed at myself. And I must admit, a evil hobo WOULD be a terrifying thing to come across. Especially if he like, had a rabid cougar as a pet..." Sid went silent, obviously contemplaiting the union of both of their fears. He gave a shudder, as the idea was not one that pleased him in the slightest.
"That would be fucking awful. The hobo would probably sick his beast on an unsuspecting victim, then they would share the meat and he would steal the victims valuables..." He was now letting his imagination run with the idea, and he decided to stop thinking about it. "...Nevermind."

Faith nodded, and said, "Yes, yes. I mean, it could be like, a magic hobo or something, and he could have like, stolen clothes from other unsuspecting victims. It would be a very traumatizing way of life for the cougar, though, having to kill people it's whole life on the command of an ebil hobo." She nodded, filling in his silence, and rubbing her arms along her arms, looking around now, as if expecting said ebil hobo and ebil cougar to come and maul them now.
"It would! And then the unsuspecting victim would have no chance. Though, maybe the unsuspecting victim was too scrawny, so the evil hobo took all the meat and ate it, and let the cougar get malnourished..." She suddenly started laughing. Running with their imagination had made the whole slightly not funny situation, very funny, "I can't believe we just made that up... we should join together and make a book. 'How to avoid getting mauled by hobos and cougars: for dummies.'" She started laughing again.

"That would make an interesting book." He agreed. "But what if they made it into like a childrens storybook? And it was just this disgusting, horrifying creation filled with morbid illustrations and tons of cartoon blood." Sid gave a laugh, imagining it. "God, that would be terrible. And what sort of parent would let their kids read it?" He knew he would probably let his kids read a book like that if he had kids, but then again, he was pretty screwed up so he probably wasn't the best example.
"You know, your right though. That would be horrible of the hobo mistreated the cougar. I mean, cougars may want to eat my for my guitar but the don't deserve to be starved to death!" He said decisively, before realizing how ridiculous what he had just said was. "Wow I sound like a nutcase."
