Thrift shops. Holden had always completely adored them. He had always hated malls, department stores, anything like that, but he absolutely loved thrift shops. Salvation Army, Good Will, just some local place, he could care less. Spending hours in one would certainly not be a stretch for Holden.
Today he had already been in the store for about twenty minutes, and had found himself quite the assortment of clothing. Three pairs of pants, worn in just to the point that he likes his pants best, four t-shirts, some striped and some just solid colors, and a pair of shoes, all for thirty dollars. Now normally Holden drew the line at used shoes. Clothes could be washed. You never really know who had worn shoes before you, and it might have been someone disgusting though. These shoes though... they were more than enough to make him break his anti used shoe rule. They were high top converse all stars, exactly his size. What set them apart from the norm though, was their color. Holden was a self named converse addict, and he had never seen shoes quite this color before. They were a bright electric blue, but somehow dark at the same time. He wasn't entirely sure how the color could be described, but he did know that he loved them already. It had to be destiny that he had found these shoes, and in his size.
Picking the shoes up, he carried them to the front of the store with the rest of his purchases to pay. That's would be when he saw it. On a shelf near the front was a big, chunky old polaroid camera. His camera geek mode kicked in and he dropped everything onto the counter, ran over, and grabbed it. The price tag read fifteen dollars. That made a total forty five. He had only brought forty along with him. Frowning slightly, he thought about it. He had outgrown most of his pants. He genuinely needed them. They were also the most expensive article of clothing besides the shoes. Deciding that two pairs would be plenty, he put one of the pants back and then handed over his two twenties. Soon enough, he recieved his purchases in return.
(kinda crummy but whatever)
