Music was pretty much all that ended up making up Chris's life. He really did end up finding that it sort of ended up working with his everyday life. It was actually funnier when he had a book and listened to music and most of the time the song seemed to match what was going on. Now, he was off looking for some sort of a new sound to fill his night time loneliness. It wasn't that he was lonely or anything, but life had been quiet for the past couple of weeks. Really, all he needed to do was get out more and well, this was probably going to be considered going out, he could possibly meet people or run into an old friend or something like that.
So, he stood there in music world with a small stack of CDs clutched in one hand and the other one on the little place that he scanned the barcode in. Every now and then he would press the next button for the track to change either that or he'd change the volume around a little bit. It was with a little bit of a smile that he moved his head to the beat of the music and resisted the urge to start dancing like a madman. Of course if you knew him then you'd know that it was something that he would do and if he decided he hated stopping himself he could start at any given point.
The CD came to an end and he put the case for it down in a pile that had CDs he would consider buying. there was another much smaller pile of ones he wouldn't want to get right now. He'd need to get a job soon to be able to work with his extreme obsession with busying new music all the time. Scanning the next case on the pile that he held he looked over the tracks for a moment before the music came. His head took the beat and soon the res tof his body had. It wasn't like he was dancing like a crazy person, but just more then the normal person would in the middle of a store.

Jake wasn’t sure when he had first started listening to music. It probably would wind up being sometime around the days he had first started getting in touch with his cousin, Lucas, and had first attempted to play bass. Bass. It was his only instrument, his passion. He loved it, loved playing, even loved holding it. He didn’t know what he would do without his bass. Whenever he was mad, sad, extremely happy, ANYTHING, he’d turn to his bass, and music. It was a big a part of his life as breathing.
And, a lot of ridiculously happy things had been happening in his life. Well, it turns out that this girl, that he had a one night stand with… well, it was a long story, but basically. They were together now, as in going out. And he was happy. Very happy. It felt right. They had hung out a lot, shared many long phone calls, and tonight, she was busy, and he had nothing to do, so he figured, he’d go to them music store and refresh his CD stock with new music, because music=love. Anywho, he’d left his house, and headed downtown, and had been walking around for about an hour before he had actually gotten inside. He looked around, mostly at the CD’s, taking in the fact that there were maybe two other people in there, counting the cashier.
Jake walked along the rock aisle, then down the rap aisle. Yeah, he didn’t particularily like rap, but whatever. Might as well look while he had the time. Finally, he stopped, looking at a few CD’s, then walking over to where the little thing that let you play the music on the CD was. It was then he noticed someone, dancing a bit out of the norm for a CD store. And at first, he just rolled his eyes, not sure whom this person was. However, as he neared closer, he lifted his head to study the person, and finally, a wide smile broke across his face. Chris Roberts. He grinned, and walked up behind him, in his universal greeting for friends, not really sure whether or not this would freak him out and startle him or not, and put a hand over his eyes, while using the other to pull an earphone lightly off one ear and saying, laughingly, “Guess who?”

Chris wasn't stupid. Even if he'd only talked to the guy every once in a while, he could more then recognize his voice since it had been playing in his head over and over again since the last time they'd talk. Chris would go as far to admit that he'd fallen hard for this guy, but he wasn't about to let the world know. There were still times where he was sore about what had happened with a guy last year, and he wasn't ready to admit that he was attatched to another just because of wha the knew could end up happening. Grinning a little bit, he pretended to think. "Jerry, is that you again? I told you that that was a one night thing, I'm not into you as more then just a sex partner," he said turning around.
There was a large grin on his face as he saw Jacob there glad to know he'd been right. "Oh," he said still acting and letting the smile drop. "hmm, wait, I know who you are," he said thinking for a moment as he scratched his head. There was still some music playing into his ear and he would have liked to be dancing, but for this, he really didn't mind the interruption. Of course if he knew what Jake had been up to he may not be so keen to speak to him. Actually he'd probably have just avoided it all together and walked away to never speak to him again. Sure, it was a childish way to deal with things, but that's what Chris was whether he was seventeen or not, he was still a lot like a preteen in so many ways that it tended to annoy the hell out of people.

Jake listened as Chris talked about a boy named ‘Jerry’. He laughed softly, and smiled at Chris as he turned around. Well, yeah. He was a bit jealous of this Jerry person, if there even was a Jerry person. He crossed his arms, and said, “Jerry? As in, Ben and Jerry’s?” He couldn’t resist cracking a lame joke. It was what he was best at, and besides, some people found it funny, or at least, it didn’t bother people that much. Because if it did, then he would probably have no friends, and no girlfriend. Yup, his girlfriend. Gabby. He smiled slightly at the thought of her, then looked at Chris again. He was so amazingly attractive, it was insane. He would never admit now that he still had that crush on the boy, especially since he now had a girlfriend. Because that would be bad. Really bad. And he had no intention of hurting Gabby in any way.
Jake’s smile lessened a little as he seemed to be having a hard time remembering who he was. He stuck out his lower lip in a pout, and said, “Oh. I’m hurt you don’t remember me. Really. I thought I meant more to you than that!” He said dramatically, putting the back of his hand to his forhead, but a smile still slightly on his face, “Allow me to refresh your memory? Jake Winters?” He ran a hand through his hair, scratching the base a little.

Chris smiled a little bit as he looked at his friend. "Well," he said softly. "Jerry is not from Ben and Jerry's," he explained as he looked at him. "He's from Tom and Jerry," he said grinning a little bit as cocked his head to the side. "We're super close. On the weekends we go to parties together," he said as he ran a hand through his brown hair as he looked at Jake happy to see him once again. Smiling a little bit he wrapped his arms around Jake before letting go and putting the CD that he'd been holding to down once again.
It was with a small smile that he looked at him. "And of course I remember you," he said softly as he looked up at him. "How could I forget a face like that?" he asked grinning widely as he pinched his cheek laughing a little bit. "How've you been? And you must have interesting stories for me," he added with a little bit of a nod. "I mean, you went and disappeared on me so you better have been off on some sort of an awesome adventure doing crazy things!" he said smiling widely. "And if it's nothing that I find to be exciting, then I'm going to be really disappointed in you my friend," he said smiling widely as he looked around for a moment.

“Oh, well, from Tom and Jerry is much better,” Jake grinned, and said, “Oh, I bet that would be fun. Going to parties with someone like Jerry.” He wrinkled his nose as he smiled this time, and he gave Chris a tight little hug back. It was totally awesome to see him, because he was a totally cool guy, and when they had hung out, it had been totally fun. He had this oddly bad feeling though, almost guilty, because of the circumstances he was seeing Chris now.
Jake shrugged, and said snootily, “I know, I know. I’m just so attractive, it’s hard to miss me.” He grinned, and laughed, completely joking. He wrinkled his nose as Chris pinched his cheek and said, “You totally just reminded me of my crazy aunt. That’s scary.” He teased, smiling. Jake nodded, and half-smiled as Chris did, and said, “Well, I’m sorry for going and disappearing… I have been pretty busy… I, uh, met someone…” He said, the conversation suddenly going awkward, “Yeah, she’s pretty awesome, and we’re going out now…” He gave a tense smile, and ran a hand through his hair, completely awkward, still.

He smiled a little bit as he looked at the other male for a short moment. He let out a low sigh as he ran a hand through his hair for a short moment. "Well," he said softly as he looked at him for a moment. "Jerry really is a cool guy," he said with a little bit of a laugh as he thought of the little mouse for a short moment and shrugged slightly. "You should come chill with him and me one day," he said grinning widely as he looked at his friend for a moment wondering what his amazing adventures he was off having.
Of course he thought that he felt something drop in his stomach when Jake mentioned something about seeing somebody. When he'd met the boy he'd fallen for him. He was now wishing that he'd made his move weeks ago. Part of him was completely tongue tied right now. "Wow," he said smiling at him. "That's, that's really great," he said nodding a little bit. "What's the lucky girl's name?" he asked really thinking that this girl was completely lucky. Even as he'd asked, Chris wasn't sure he wanted to know. When he found out this girl's name, he'd probably hate her just because she was dating Jake no matter how great of a person she might be. That ws one of Chris's many faults.

Jake smiled, looking at Chris, “Well, I bet he is. For a mousie.” Mousey. Yes, this nearly eighteen year old still used the term mousie. Oh well. No one said he was MATURE, anyway. He nodded, saying, “Maybe I just will. Crash the party.” He grinned, saying, “But, because you guys are so tight, I’d be like the third wheel.” If there was one thing Jake hated, it was being third wheel in conversations. He didn’t like acting as a buffer with his friends and the girls or boys they liked. It was quite annoying.
Jake bit his lip, staring at his scuffed converse. This had quite a few outcomes visible. For some reason, Chris got mad at him. The only reason he could think of that happening is if Chris liked him, and he didn’t think that. The next was he was happy for him… and a few more that he knew were there but couldn’t exactly think of. He looked up at Chris and smiled, thinking of Gabby, saying, “Yeah, she’s really great.” He nodded, and said, “Her name’s Gabby. Gabby Tanner.” Vaguely, he thought he remembered seeing a picture of Gabby and Chris together somewhere… but he couldn’t quite.

Chris laughed a little bit and shook his head as he looked at the other male. It was with a small smile that he ran a hand through his hair and listened to what it was Jake was saying. His curiosity of who it was Jake was dating had pretty much reached its peak at this point. His heart was thumping in his chest as he listened to the name getting himself ready to place a face. The worst part about this though, was just watching Jake. He seemed as though he was completely thrilled that he was dating whoever this was. Then the name hit him. It had to have been pretty much the worst thing that could have happened.
For a moment he was completely speechless, something he hadn't been, well ever. His mind grasped for the words. Could he really be mad about this? It wasn't like either of them really knew about how Chris felt. Still, it hurt all the same. He felt as though he had been betrayed by the two people he had been closest too. For a moment he still tried to figure out what had just been said to him. "Wow," he said softly. "That's, that's great," he said smiling slightly. "I know her," he added softly. "She's great," he said with another little nod. That was indeed rather true she was great, but he was feeling something in his love for Gabby leaving his body at this point.
